“They say that light isn’t something you chase. It’s already in your hand — something that comes from within you. Surely.” This film documents the practice of “Documentary Acting,” a method developed by tsu-tsu.

The process unfolds in three stages: first, the performer empties the body — stripping away the habits and assumptions that have accumulated over a lifetime. Second, the performer becomes conscious of the “settings” that have been inscribed through lived experience: language, gesture, posture, reflex — the residue of everything one has encountered and internalized. Third, the performer begins to incorporate the settings of another person into the body, allowing a new subject to take form within.

In this work, the medium through which another person is installed is the “diary” — an intimate, daily record that serves as the point of entry into someone else’s rhythms, thoughts, and self-narration.
